Grapes on a Stump

The tip of it fractured

and it was overcoming dawn,

Flowing like a nostalgic fountain

into an ancient quaich

overflowing

splashing

in the green highlands,

We knew all about it

since the beginning

like a morning star

that never falls

Even as the dusk swallows

every one of us,

each of us is walking

steady

into the light,

A web may surround us,

but the grassy dew

and our wet feet

tells us

we are not too far

we are not too far from day’s end.
